Professor Duflou is a senior forensic pathologist practicing from Sydney with extensive expertise in all aspects of forensic medicine and pathology, including injury assessment, mechanisms of injury, and their effects on the human body, both in living persons and in the deceased. As a specialist pathologist he also has in-depth knowledge of the mechanisms and effects of disease on the body. He has presented expert evidence in multiple jurisdictions in all States and Territories in Australia, and has also given expert evidence in many international jurisdictions.

Professor Duflou has specialist medical qualifications from South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.

He has been providing a part-time consultancy service since 1991, and has expanded this to full-time practice since 2015. Prior to this, he was Clinical Director at the Department of Forensic Medicine in Sydney. He is also a Clinical Professor at the Sydney Medical School of the University of Sydney, and a Conjoint Associate Professor at the National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) of the University of NSW.

Professor Duflou has published widely in the peer-reviewed medical literature, with over 100 publications on diverse topics including injury mechanisms and documentation, forensic toxicology and a variety of natural diseases. In addition, he has been the recipient of over $3.5 million in competitive research funding. He also lectures frequently at universities in NSW, and is a regular invited speaker at national and international medical, scientific and legal conferences.

Professor Duflou provides well-regarded investigations and expert reports at the request of all parties in criminal and civil trials, inquests and other courts and tribunals. He provides a timely and professional service at the request of legal counsel, professional organisations, and directly to tribunals. He also has an extensive network of senior medical practitioners and other experts who can provide additional specialist assistance as required.
